Welcome to my blog

Hello there, thanks for coming to my blog. Hope you aren't lost, but even if you are - welcome.

I guess this blog will be about life and times in Universal Design for Learning an exciting but challenging course I am taking this semester. Anything with technology can be a challenge. I remember using rotary dial phones, talking to operators and black and white TV with lots of snow. But, I am excited to learn what technology can do to make the school house, that we all know and love, all new and flexible. Hopefully there is a "brave new world" of education coming.

Thoughts about technology by a 50 something

Where did it go?
Which button do I push?
If you can't touch it, it doesn't exist!!!
Oh sh.......!
Where is my pencil?
Intuitive -NOT!

Hi Steve,

I'm interested in learning more about your summer literacy program. Where does it take place? Who attends? I know that other students in the class are interested in adolescent literacy, so I'll keep my eyes out for posts on other blogs so you can link up with them.

Hi- I, too, would like to learn more about your literacy program. I've only taught younger kids, but I am really interested in learning more about middle and high school literacy and am trying to observe in schools as much as possible to understand what happens once my students leave me!

Steve,

You echoed my thoughts about how technology can be a challenge, while it really opens up a whole new world.
I can see we are both eager to learn
more about technology's use in teh classroom.

Re: If you can't touch it, it doesn't exist!

Physicists will have us believe that it's impossible to actually "touch" anything, as the repulsion between electrons at the atomic level is far stronger than we can ever hope to be.

So I guess nothing really exists then? At least that explains where your pencil went :)

Hi Steve, Technology is challenging for you? I wouldn't know that by looking at this blog! Great job adding a variety of different media!

Love your idea of the summer literacy program. I read some research once that found that kids who grow up with the worst odds really only need one adult to believe in them to find success in life. Bravo!

My Fun (not me but it could be)
